Dreams often are not literal translations but are a metaphor of communication. As a result, the symbols used in a dream are a way to help the mind accept the information or message coming from a spiritual realm, such as from the astral plane or from your higher self, or your personal spiritual guide.
For example, you may have a dream about a colleague who has the name of "MARY" and it seems the dream is so odd and unusual, as you have never been close to this person. The dream, more than likely, is not about your colleague Mary at all but may be the name of your guide, Mary, and you dream of the name Mary as a way to bring back the memory of learning the name of your spiritual guide.
The symbols used in dreams need to have meaning to the person who is having the dream. So when you are reviewing and analyzing your dream, ask yourself what does that dream symbol mean to you?
Flying in a Dream
When you dream of flying, it usually is associated with astral travel. Flying is a universal image used in dreams for astral travel/astral projections.
Here is an example of one of a flying dream with an aircraft carrier and how John UK helped interpret that dream.
Water in a Dream
Water in a dream is often a message about spirituality or messages related to the spirit and emotions. Water is symbolic of the life force energy.
Clean water is usually something positive about spirituality or positive feelings and emotions. It is about being nourished. Dirty water may be a message about something that needs to be cleansed or a message about something that is not pure.
Being Naked in a Dream
Being naked in a dream is a universal symbol about exposure. It doesn't necessarily mean being physically exposed. It can be related to exposing your emotions, or feelings, or aspects of your life that are usually not shared.
Sex in a Dream
Sex in a dream is usually related to spiritual energy.
Sex, Spirit, and Love are interconnected so when sex is represented in a dream it may be your minds way of communicating to you about something related to spirit, spiritual energy, and/or love. It could be a message about your spirit needing nourishment, which can come from sex, meditation, love, etc.
When sex in a dream is positive, it is giving you a positive message. When sex in a dream is unfortable or negative, the message is similar to a warning message.
When sex in a dream is associated with a friend, colleague, co-worker, or associate, this may indicate a spiritual connection. Sometimes it may be related to a connection beyond friendship. Sometimes it may be related to a desire for a sexual connection and union.

Dream of Family Members, Friends
Often dreams that include family members may be a metaphor about the family role. For example, a dream about your sister may be something about someone who seems like a sister to you rather than a personal relative. Look at the whole context of the dream to see if the dream is related to that person or if is the ROLE of that person.
Sometimes you have dreams about people and recall a persons name in the dream. Sometimes this recall process is the way the mind recalls a name you picked up on an astral travel. For example, I dreamed of a colleague named Mary and the rest of the dream seemed to be unremarkable or didn't make sense. Shortly after that I learned I had another Spiritual Guide by the name of Mary and this was the way my mind carried forth that message.
Sometimes I dreamed of people I barely knew, but in the dream they are a different age than they are in real life. When this happens, sometimes it is a message about their soul age, such as "this person is an old soul".
Sometimes I have dreamt of my children but in the dream they are of a different age, such as toddlers or small children, in the dream. John UK said this was because this age was when I felt closest to them so bring forward that age in my dreams. This helps me demonstrates the bonds and ties of the family when I dream of my children at that stage in their life..
Babies
Sometimes a dream of a baby can mean that a new idea, or a new project, or a new concept has been given birth.
Food in a Dream
Sometimes food in a dream is often about energy and nourishment.
Sometimes it can be about a specific type of energy and nourishment associated with the chakra's but that is only if your are familiar with the chakra's

The Location of the Dream
Sometimes the location in a dream is a metaphor and doesn't mean the city or location of the dream. For example, I had a dream about the city of Philadelphia and the meaning of the city had to do with the "birthplace of USA freedom". The dream's meaning was more about freedom and giving birth to that freedom in my life. The city had nothing to do with the location, rather it was the idea of what the city represents..
Other times I have dreams of the house I grew up in and usually this is related to what I a reference in my dreams as being or coming "home". When the dream is about general homes, it often means "opportunity"
Death in a Dream
Often when you dream of death it is a representation of something ending rather than death itself. It is usually a metaphor about change.
Other Objects
Airplanes
Often objects seen in dreams are a metaphor representing something else entirely. For example, a dream about an airplane or flying most likely is not about the airplane itself but rather about astral travel.
Coins
Coins in a dream usually don't mean money. It usually is a metaphor for something of value and something that is treasured.
Snakes, Rats, other animals
Often animals are in dreams, such as snakes, rats, rabbits, etc. The answer as to what the animal represents in a dream is you need to ask yourself "what does that animal mean to you? For example, if you dream of a snake, what does a snake represent to you? and in what context was the snake in the dream? Was it a metaphor about someone who is a snake of a person? Or was it related to a change of energy, such as the snake often depicted in the coiling and release of energy similar to a kundalini experience or sometimes it is a metaphor for the penis or for sex? So the key to determining the answer as to what that object means in the dream is "how was that object used in the dream", and "what does that object represent to you".
Dinosaurs in a Dream
Often dinosaurs can be the metaphor to represent something that is very archaic or very old and obsolete.
Being Harmed in a Dream
A dream about being harmed may be a warning dream. For example, I had a significant where a woman took a knife and stabbed me in the back. In the dream it was not a traumatic event....but more like brushing my teeth. Shortly after this dream I learned of some women who were making up stories and lies about me. The dream had been a warning dream, not necessarily about this particular woman, but about the group she was associated with and represented. They wanted to limit me or do harm to me. The dream was warning me to be cautious with this particular group as they would "stab me in the back".
Being Lost in a Dream
Being lost in a dream can be a message that the path you are currently on is not getting you to where you need to be. It is a call to try a new path and make go in a new direction.
